Jess Starwood is a clinical herbalist, wildcrafter and plant-based culinary artist. She is the owner of SunRaven Apothecary in Thousand Oaks, California where she can be found brewing up herbal medicines, crafting unusual wild food dishes and teaching adult and children’s classes. She was recently the culinary consultant and forager for the historic Ojai Ranch House restaurant, offering creative vegan menu items that incorporate wild foods including fermented nut cheeses and vegan desserts. With her lifelong passion for nature and plants, Jess has studied natural health and herbal medicine for over 15 years and has a Masters of Science degree in Herbal Medicine from the American College of Healthcare Sciences in Portland, Oregon. Jess offers a wide variety of programs and workshops connecting the community with natural healing and inspiring an invaluable connection with nature and our local environment.

Ethical & Sustainability Practices
Jess and SunRaven Apothecary believes that the best medicine comes from a healthy and sustainable environment. With that in mind, ethical practices are followed during all harvesting and foraging activities. SunRaven Apothecary personally grows many medicinal herbs but most native and local herbs are harvested from pristine private property with utmost care and awareness to the environmental impact that foraging can have on an area. When applicable, invasive species are utilized in order to bring balance to the natural and native plant environment.
